Moving Lagos, one fair ride at a time.
In Nigerian Pidgin, waka means to move. Move Waka is a ride-sharing service built for how Lagos moves — started in Nigeria, priced in Naira, and designed around one simple idea: you should know exactly what a ride costs before you get in the car.
The service is operated by Move Waka Nigeria Ltd, with product and technology from the Move Waka International team. We're starting in Lagos — and we're building carefully, starting with the rides people take every day.
Our mission
Fares you can trust
Every trip is priced by a published rate card, and the fare is locked upfront — shown to you before you confirm and honoured for the ride. No haggling, no meter anxiety, no price that changes mid-journey because of traffic on Third Mainland Bridge.
Drivers who keep what they earn
Drivers keep 90% of every fare. We think the person behind the wheel should hold on to the bulk of what riders pay — that's how you keep good drivers on the road, and good drivers are what make a ride service work.
How it works in Lagos
Four steps, from opening the app to stepping out at your destination:
1. Enter your trip
Type your pickup and drop-off — or tap the map. The booking estimator works out the distance and trip time across Lagos and shows you the fare for each ride class.
2. See the fare before you book
The fare is locked upfront: base fare plus per-kilometre plus per-minute, from the published rate card. What you see before confirming is what the trip charges — it doesn't change mid-trip because of traffic.
3. Request and get matched
Confirm the request and it goes to Move Waka drivers. When a driver accepts, you see their name, photo, vehicle model and plate, plus your pickup time.
4. Get picked up
We aim to pick you up within 15 minutes of a driver accepting your request. Your trip page follows the ride from pickup to drop-off.
Four ride classes cover different trips: Waka Economy from ₦1,200, Waka Comfort from ₦1,600, Waka Executive from ₦3,000 and Waka Airport from ₦4,000. Tolls are charged at cost. The full rate card is the same one the booking estimator charges.
Our commitment to safety
Safety isn't a page on a website — it's the choices we make in how the service runs. Here is what that means in practice, today, on every Move Waka ride:
You know who is driving
Before you get in, the app shows your driver's name, photo, vehicle model and plate. If the car or person doesn't match, don't get in — contact us straight away.
Transparent fares, no surprises
Fares are locked before you ride. Fare adjustments are limited and published, they never stack (only the single largest applies), and no adjustment can exceed +20% of the locked fare. Late-night trips (10:00 pm–5:00 am Lagos time) carry a +5% adjustment you see before confirming.
A real person to talk to
Questions about a ride, a fare or a driver go to the Move Waka team — by email or WhatsApp from the contact page. A real person replies.
Drivers who are vetted
Drivers apply through the Drive page with their licence, vehicle registration and insurance details, and ride only after the Move Waka team approves their application.
